A heart like hers....

So I think, the best part about Myron's birthday was Rylie. Don't get me wrong we had a great day. We spent it together. We went swimming, rode bikes, went to the park, ate cake. It was a great time as a family. But Rylie, at 5, was able to celebrate her daddy by just being his girl all day. I don't think she left his side and if happened to be outside chopping wood for the fire or putting the ski racks on the van, she asked where he was until he came in. (And actually with the racks/van part she put her snowsuit on and went out to watch.) She hung on him all day, made him walk beside her as she rode her bike, refused to let me read her bedtime story or carry her to bed.
{sigh...}
I love her heart.
She made sure her dad felt extra special on his day!!

A few pic's from the pool:
Wyatt was floating all by himself.
This is a huge step for him to not cling to one of us the entire time.
Rylie insisted I show you she could touch the bottom of the shallow end!
lovin' her daddy

Rylie's Swim Lessons

So of course you know Rylie had her first set of swim lessons last week. She did really well and had a lot of fun even in the cold water.  I am not sure I would say she knows how to swim now, but she learned some very important skills over the week and by Friday jumped in the water all by herself!
It was a proud moment.
Sometimes she lets her "quiet side" get the best of her.

Wyatt went to Noah's house to play for the first couple days. It was a big thing for him too, he had never been anywhere all by himself before. Sister is always there. He did so well and had so much fun playing with Noah's trucks. Didn't shed one tear!
But Friday he came with us to watch Rylie's last day. It was so tempting but he actually stayed out of the water!

SO most of you know we woke up to this....

and it wasn't the first morning of the week which this has happened. It was more like the third or fourth....or fifth. Its all very sad in my book seeing as my family is hanging out at the lake and its 80 degrees and sunny there. But I try not to think of that. As the rest of the country is flooded and torn apart by tornado's, we simply have a little snow, in May. We also have lots of firewood to keep us warm. We also get to go to Moab for a mini-vacation in 4 days.... Hallelujah!!! We have much to be thankful for.

So Sunday morning, when we woke up to more snow, we headed to Durango and pretended it was summer and swam all morning long! I didn't get many pictures of Rylie because she was on the big slide with her daddy the whole time! She is our little dare devil where Wyatt is our more cautious one. This was actually the first time that he played without having to have me carry him the whole time.

The only bad part about going is its always so hard to leave....

Not Me Monday

I did not forget it was Monday.
But since its a holiday let's just let it slide.

We have had nothing but rain for days. I know you east coasters have little sympathy, but we just aren't used to gray sky's and moisture. Its nice and relaxing the first day but the second and third and fourth, well they ain't so fun. And don't even get me started on Myron being pinned up in the house on a holiday weekend, not pretty.

So yesterday we went to the swim park with our sweet friends Jay and Allison. They are so good with our kids and love to play just as much as we do. It was a great way to beat the rainy week blues. Wyatt thought it was a big hit as well. I think this kid loves the water more then Rylie (which I thought was impossible)

And on Wednesday my dad, the husband to my mother, the grandfather to my children, the man who came to my house and installed our garbage disposal while rearranging the cupboards, will begin his Mississippi River Adventure. Isn't it cool to be able to say you have fulfilled a lifelong dream. He should be able to say that come August and I find that quite inspiring. Dad or Popeye as the kids call him, will be sailing the Mississippi from top to bottom. He will head to Minnesota with a couple of buddies on Wednesday. Follow his adventures here and please pray for his journey to safe and successful!!

Love ya dad!!!
