First Day of School 2016/17

I find this a safe place to document our milestones. Maybe one day I will have them printed into yearbooks but for now I know I can look back and treasure these sweet moments that seem to slip by so fast.

Today...September 6, 2016 was the start of a new school year.
Our family now contains a 4th grader and a 2nd grader and as you can see below they are pretty amazing.

Heading into 4th grade Rylie is excited about her year and 2 new teachers. She has one of her very best friends in class with her and is full of Hope this will be a Super year. She truly does love to learn and be with her friends so hopefully having the support of one or two other classmates will allow her the confidence she needs to keep completing the goals she has set.

Wyatt is a little nervous this year. He has a new teacher and a lot of new kiddos in the class. He makes friends easily and we hope he will be able to find a good support group in his class as well.  It does amaze me that after three years at school and living in such a small town we still know less kids then we think. But we know he will continue to do well,  have fun, and be a positive influence for others.

So here we go....off to another year.
A year of growing, learning,  and meeting new people.
We sure hope its a great one!

Last Day of School

Look.... I am doing it again.
That ole' thing called blogging.

Today I have a few hours before school gets out with nothing to do.
Nothing scheduled that is.
Thats a first in a long, long time.

So I thought you should see the last day of school.

Rylie is finishing up third grade.

I wont lie its not been an easy one.  It wasnt a bad one but definetly a year with lots of ups and downs. A year of learning to handle growing up and making the best of tough situations. Its not always easy being the quiet one. The one that likes rules and structure when those around you dont. Its hard to learn how to balance a new dynamic, but she did it. Math turned from our biggest challenge to super fun. What can I say the girl actually likes fractions. We made a few new friends and worked to grow the older ones. We are excited for fourth grade. Excited for new adventures and a new mix of classmates. Hopeful for more days we look forward to going to school then not.

1st Day of 3rd Grade
Last Day of 3rd Grade

Wyatt finishes up 1st grade today.
First grade was a little more sitting then Kindergarten so sometimes the days were long for him. And there was never enough to eat, but thats just an overall life lesson he has to learn.
Overall he really enjoyed first grade. He had lots of friends in his class and a wonderful set of teachers. He became an ace mathmatician, although actually having to "show" the work was a little frustrating for him. He just seemed to know it and it disrupted his play time. ;)
He is really looking forward to this summer and time with some unrestricted play... I think.

1st day

last day
Both kids have physically grown leaps and bounds. I mean I just bought Rylie WOMENS size 5 flip flops. And the fact they are almost too small didnt slip past me. Wyatt has jumped from size 6 clothes to size 10 this school year and we dont even know what size shoes he wears these days. We hope to  just wait for second grade until we buy something other then sandals.

So for now we look forward to summer. To lots of time with friends and family in the sun. To using our "new" camper as much as possible and watching lots of fireworks at the lake on the fourth. The kids are ready to hook up Dangerous to his backpack and even set out on a trip through the wilderness. They seem to be growing up fast but I have to admit with each season of lifeit gets a little more fun. Its important for me to stop and remember that.

Wyatt KG Program

WOW did I really just let a whole month slip by with out an update?
That is happening a little more then I would like but it has been a rough (emotionally) and busy month. So I am going to share a bright side to our last several weeks: Wyatt's Kindergarten Program.

Wyatt has really done an amazing job in KG this year. We were so worried about him withdrawing with the everyday bustle and tons of loud hyper kids. When in fact he has done the complete opposite. Don't get me wrong he would much rather be home anyday of the week. But once he is at school he is chatty, outgoing, and has made lots of sweet little friends. He always has a fun story to tell at the end of the day. We are so thankful.

So rather then a hesitant, shy Christmas program Wyatt did an excellent job singing with his class and reciting his part.

He was pretty excited about it all!
And cupcakes to finish....

He was a little sad when I had to leave.

Rylie is also having a great year.
She has a new teacher and couldn't be happier. All she talks about is Mr. Dunn. I am so grateful she has a teacher to keep her enthused and interested. Wyatt's program was actually during her lunch so that day Mr. Dunn let her eat in the classroom afterwards. Pretty special from what I understand...

This time of year is extremely busy for me on the photography front.
Rylie has been a big help and often tags along to assist.

Helping me find the right spot before the family arrived.

Katelyn needed her picture too!

One Sweet Family tried to take our pictures afterwards.

Soccer Season Begins

I was so nervous for Wyatt's first day of school. If you know him you know he is very sweet, shy, and takes a bit of time to warm up to others. He also is terrified of loud, crowded, crazy situations. Like you know, Kindergarten in a public school.

So on day one, when we had no clinging, no tears, seemingly no fear. I was amazed.
When I met both him and Rylie and at the bus stop I was greeted by two excited bouncy children. His teacher, (someone who has also seen Wyatt in busy places and was prepared for that), said he talked and answered questions with out hesitation. She was so proud of him.

Day two was much the same except we had a soccer game after school. He was a tad more tired and not really excited about the soccer part. He had told us after his practices last week he didn't like soccer. Which didn't surprise me, after all soccer is a bunch of kids running and kicking each other in a big group right.

Then this happened....

he played....
and I could be wrong...

but I think...
he liked it.

Rylie girl, well
She of course loves the second grade.
She continues to love soccer.
And now chooses to play in a skirt...

I am praying 2014/15 school year continues on this miraculous path for my sweet peas.

Kindergarten and Second Grade

So today we started the 2014/2015 School year.
Both kiddos entered the doors of Pagosa Elementary School, with no tears.
Rylie even took off without so much as a hug and kiss, I had to go hunt her down.

Kinder's lined up ready for the bell.

Pre-K Graduation | Wyatt

Sunday was my day to lead Children's Church at our church when Rylie and her friend asked to go get some water. I looked around to see if a big kid could go with them when I realized.........they were the big kids. They were my helpers. There was a whole group of kids in there that had moved up from the nursery to children's church. All the kids from CC were now out in the service.

What had happened to time......

Tonight just reiterated this newfound fact.
Wyatt Graduated from Pre-School.
He is going to Kindergarten.
We are moving to Public School.
Oh my heart.

I completely missed this photo-op.....

Ms. Anette. An amazing teacher and director who has loved my children whole heartedly.
We will miss her.

not quite sure this is how he feels about Kindergarten but summer here we come...

Kindergarten Circus

A few weeks back Rylie's class had a circus. It was rightfully named the Kindergarten Circus. It is a tradition the school has held for almost 25 years and sweet as can be. The whole FunHouse went and although we missed a few naps it was well worth it to watch our sweet girl perform with her friends!
